Peyton’s Progress: 8 month update

Happy February! Peyton is 8 months old today! This month felt super long. I don’t mind though because she is growing up so fast and it needs to stop! There are moments when she finally wants to lay and cuddle on me and I just want to be frozen in time. I really cherish those sweet moments with her. She doesn’t want to cuddle much anymore. She wants to explore, roll around and get into everything. She’s very independent and determined.

She is finally sitting up unassisted! It’s so weird to see her do that because I remember, not too long ago, that she was just a little newborn blob! She is learning how to sign “all done” when she is finished eating! She has done it by herself a few times already 🙂 She has learned to share with us by trying to feed us her picnic food! It is the cutest thing ever. She has started “fake laughing” too and it is hilarious! She is always laughing with us and we feel so lucky to have such a happy little girl in our lives. She brings us an immense amount of joy on a daily basis.

In addition to laughing and expressing happiness more often, she also expresses frustration with a dinosaur growl lol Like I said before, she is VERY determined and she gets frustrated when she can’t do what she is trying to do or can’t have what she wants. She has to learn patience! She is so much like her mommy 😉

For a while, I wondered if she really preferred her mommy and daddy to strangers because she would honestly go to anyone lol She is very friendly and she likes to flirt with everyone when we go to the store. I spoke too soon though, because she recently has started to develop some stranger danger! Most times, people try to say hello to her and she looks at me for reassurance. Once I tell her “it’s okay, you can say hello” she looks back at them and smiles with her cute, shy smile and she wins the heart of everyone she meets. If they catch her off guard though, like an older man did recently when she was just waking up from a nap, she’ll cry!

She hasn’t mastered crawling quite yet but she is almost there! She tries to lunge forward while she is on her hands and knees but she hasn’t figured out how to move her legs and arms at the same time. She will be there soon enough!
