Happy new year everyone! I hope you all had a fun, exciting, and safe holiday! This past year has been the craziest and most life changing… one for the books! I spent half of it pregnant and half of it being a new mommy to the best little girl I could have asked for! I’m so grateful for 2017 and I know 2018 will bring my family new and exciting opportunities and adventures 😉

Peyton is 7 months old! Every month her personality emerges more and more. She is the most content baby I have ever met. She fusses every so often, of course, but for the most part, she is generally very happy and fun! She loves to laugh, she is talkative, and she is very curious about her environment. She loves to explore and she wants to grab and put everything in her mouth! She wants what she wants and she can get very stubborn sometimes. She is pretty much sitting up on her own but she is not quite ready to be left alone like that yet. She has been trying to get up on her hands and knees and push herself forward so I know crawling is in the near future! We’re in trouble. She painted for the first time this month too! She just has to learn that a paint brush isn’t the same as her spoon 😉 Yesterday, she started dancing to music for the first time by rocking back and forth to her piano! It was so cute 🙂

She has been doing pretty well with eating solids! She has been eating purees for the past month so far. With all of the research and anecdotal information I have gathered, I feel that doing a hybrid between purees and regular foods will be the most beneficial for her 🙂 There are pros and cons of each method, so doing both methods and using them to her advantage is what I think is best. I like to see that she is learning how to eat from a spoon, getting the extra iron and zinc that she needs and actually ingesting it rather than the food just ending up on the floor. On the other hand, it will also be good for her to start eating different textured foods and learning to self feed as well! We tried doing both last night and it went even better than expected!

Age: 7 months

Milestones: The main ones being: She can pretty much sit up on her own for a short amount of time, she turns the pages when we read books, she started drinking from a sippy cup during meals, she can roll around everywhere, she reaches for everything and anything, and she babbles like crazy!
Memorable outings: I can’t think of one in particular.
Favorite toys/activities: She loves her pineapple teether, her tactile balls, her piano, and she loves playing in the mirror!
Words/sounds: She makes all sorts of sounds but still only says “Dada”.
